A sailor stands beside a sea chest which has the words 'And a third part of their ships were destroyed Chap 8, Verse 9.' written on it. Above are two barrels, a pair of crossed hangars, a cocked hat and a heart draped in black crepe. To the right is another inscription. On the ground is a scroll making reference to the fact that everyone, apart from sailors, were asked to pay two pence to visit Nelson's tomb in St. Pauls Cathedral.
