The Gallant Nelson Bringing Home Two Uncommon Fierce French Crocodiles from the Nile as a Present to the King Art Print

Coloured caricature print designed by Isaac Cruikshank and published by S.W. Fores of No. 50 Piccadilly on 7th October 1798. This caricature was produced as a satirical comment on political attitudes to Nelson's victory at the Battle of the Nile. It shows Nelson in uniform, complete with wound from the Battle above his eye, leading two crocodiles which are coloured with French colours, he says 'Come along you Hypocritical Dogs ..'. The crocodiles bear the faces of the Whig politicians Fox and Sheridan - Fox has a tricolour rosette in his hair, and both are crying crocodile tears - and the suggestion is that however much they pretend to cry they are disappointed that Nelson's victory will give the Tories political advantage.

This The Gallant Nelson Bringing Home Two Uncommon Fierce French Crocodiles from the Nile as a Present to the King Art Print is created using state of the art, industry leading Digital printers. The result - a stunning reproduction at an affordable price.
